One Dharma Nashville was founded in 2006 by Lisa Ernst and Patsy Villalobos. Our sangha consists of a diverse group of people with varied practice backgrounds. Some are long term meditators while others are completely new to the practice. This page is intended to highlight some of the sangha's background and diversity and will be expanded as time permits.
Lisa Ernst began her meditation practice in the late '80's in the Zen Buddhist tradition, studying closely with several Zen Masters and attending numerous mediation retreats. Lisa has also studied and practiced in the Theravada tradition since the late 90’s. She has taught meditation to prison inmates in Tennessee and gives talks on Buddhism to various religious and secular groups in the area. Currently she offers private meditation instruction for newer students seeking personal guidance and those wishing to "tune up" their practice. For more information, contact her at lisa@lisaernst.com. Lisa is also a visual artist whose work focuses on the theme of impermanence, one of Buddha's core teachings.
