Nashville Meditation Training, Classes, Retreats
Our Meditation Practice Schedule Monday Nights, 7 - 8:30 Our main meditation night
Meeting every Monday. We start with a five minute metta (loving kindness) meditation, followed by sitting and walking practice. We complete the session with a group chant, dharma talk and q&a, usually led by one of our two dharma teachers, Lisa Ernst and Tom Neilson. This is an opportunity to learn more about the teachings and practical application of practice in everyday life. People of all levels of experience are welcome, from beginners to experienced meditators. For your first time meditating with us, please be sure to arrive 15 minutes early for orientation. Please note that we start promptly at 7 p.m. Late arrivals (beyond 7:05) are asked to meditate on the couch in the library until the walking period at 7:30, then join us for the rest of the session. For more information, email onedharmainfo@gmail.com. Thursday evenings as announced Community Dharma Circle
This meeting provides a casual and friendly setting for people of all levels of experience, from beginner to experienced meditator, to learn, ask questions and share. We sit in a circle and start by going around and introducing ourselves. The evening's facilitator will speak for 5 - 10 minutes on the practice and what the focus of the evening's discussion will be. We then sit in meditation for 20 minutes. Afterward, we go around the circle and each person has the option to share their experience of the meditation, the evening's topic, where they are in their practice or life, or pass if they prefer. Newcomers are welcome.
2nd and 4th Saturdays of Each Month, 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. The Basics of Mindfulness Meditation and Study Group
This twice monthly meeting offers an introduction to creating and incorporating an effective and ongoing mindfulness meditation practice. You will learn the basics of insight meditation, and its applications in daily life. The discussion and study period will help you learn more about Buddhism and how to bring mindfulness practice into everyday activities. We draw from traditional and contemporary teachings from the Insight tradition. Our current study focus utilizes "Dancing with Life" from Phillip Moffitt, which is about the Four Noble Truths. This class is appropriate to beginning and newer meditators as well as those who wish to refresh the basics of mindfulness practice. Although optional, we also recommend a classic guide to mindfulness meditation, “Breath by Breath” by Larry Rosenberg. We will have several new copies available for purchase at the center for $15.
