The Practice of Death Contemplation: Deepening Connection to Life
Half Day Retreat Led by Lisa Ernst
June 7 9 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CT Online

In our death adverse culture, few of us reflect on the inevitability of our death or that it could happen at any time. Yet the Buddha recommended that we use death as an object of contemplation to help us deepen our connection to life and awaken to its fleeting, and precious nature.

Contemplating death, called Maraṇasati in Pali, as part of our meditation practice, encourages us to be clearer about our priorities, less self-centered and more courageous. Paradoxically, many of us discover that contemplating our mortality is vital to putting us in touch with a deep sense of gratitude and a way of living that is more fully in alignment with our values, bringing forward our best, truest self.

In this half day retreat, we will explore practices and contemplations that help bring us into a more authentic and less fearful relationship with death that allows us to live more fully, from the heart. Cost is sliding scale $55 – 75. This includes compensation for the teacher.
