Welcome to Mindful Recovery. This meeting is geared towards offering a safe space to practice meditation together in community along with sharing and gaining new insights. Anyone recovering from any form of suffering, including but not limited to alcohol and substance abuse, adult children of alcoholics and family of dysfunction, trauma, mental illness, codependency, eating disorder, ptsd, depression, anxiety, compassion fatigue, burnout from working, to name a few. Mindful Recovery is a welcoming community for all fellow travelers looking to learn, practice and implement various meditation practices into their daily life, based in kindness, compassion, open mindedness and insight. The aim is to continue on the path of healing together regardless of background, cultural upbringing and experience.
Meeting begins at 6:30 pm with a brief introduction, readings, guided meditation, resting together in the Noble Silence, followed by a brief Dharma Talk, Inquiry (open to sharing what was noticed) along with a period for Q&A and discussion.
It is our intention to cultivate a safe space by being gentle and nurturing to mental health and clarity of mind. The practices and teachings are grounded in loving-kindness, compassion, self-care, beginner’s mind, starting from within. Friends from all experience levels are welcome. Scott has been meditating for eight years and he completed Osher Center’s Mindfulness Facilitation Training in 2019. He is a trained and certified recovery specialist, mindfulness meditation teacher and case manager. Scott leads many mindfulness classes each week and his mission is to help others find continuous peace, purpose and connectedness all while having fun!
