Five Session Online Study and Practice Course

Meeting

7 – 8:30 p.m. CT, Led by Anne Greeott

The Buddha offered the five spiritual faculties, also known as the Five Spiritual Strengths, to support meditation practice in an energetic and balanced way. These strengths address a common challenge in meditation: the tendency for practice to drift into boredom, restlessness, or strain. By exploring the Five Spiritual Strengths as interdependent capacities, participants learn how to recognize imbalance and respond with discernment—cultivating greater presence, clarity, and ease.

This course will explore each faculty and offer guidance on how to monitor and balance energy with concentration, and trust with wisdom. Each 90-minute session will include a guided meditation, a teaching talk, and discussion. A written overview to orient participants to the full framework will be provided prior to the first session.

Course Sessions:
• Session 1: Saddhā — Confidence, Trust, or Faith
• Session 2: Vīrya — Energy or Effort
• Session 3: Sati — Mindfulness or Remembering
• Session 4: Samādhi — Concentration or Steadiness of Mind
• Session 5: Paññā — Wisdom
